The holiday season—whenever and wherever it is observed globally, shaped by geography, culture, and tradition—has a way of slowing us down, creating space to reflect on what has endured, what has evolved, and what truly matters. It reminds us that presence is a form of prosperity: the ability to be grounded in the moment while carrying forward the lessons of the past.
This reflection feels especially meaningful as Generation1.ca marked its tenth year in 2025—a decade of building pathways, telling immigrant stories with care, and translating lived experience into opportunity. At the same time, I find myself approaching a personal milestone of my own, closing out forty years on this planet at the end of this year on December 28, what I’ve lovingly nicknamed the Big Fourth! Because over four decades, my journey across continents and countries has been about way more than leadership. It has been a sustained education in surviving—and leading through—geopolitically turbulent times, where progress repeatedly stalls not for the lack of evidence, but for lack of courage to act on what we already know. At Generation1.ca, we are proud to move the needle in ways few have dared, standing firmly in the league of innovators and pioneers, consistently.
Together, these moments reveal a simple truth: progress is rarely loud, but it is deeply continuous and cumulative. And it is built through unrelenting passion, patience, relationships, and a steady commitment to purpose, year after year, all powered in empathy and data excellence. As a non-profit organization, Generation1.ca advances the UN Sustainable Development Goals by strengthening equitable access to education and skills (SDG 4), enabling decent work and inclusive economic growth (SDG 8), reducing inequalities (SDG 10), and activating cross-sector partnerships that turn immigrant inclusion and responsible innovation into measurable, future-ready outcomes (SDG 17). If you like what we do and would like to join forces to support our work in the new year, as we look to launch our Future Ready Innovators credential, get in touch. Learn about our upcoming programs throughout 2026 and consider the opportunities to partner and collaborate on improving your global talent, consumer and citizen engagement outcomes. You can e-mail me at Arundati@generation1.ca.
As we close another chapter in our books and look ahead to achieving even greater milestones across our communities and ecosystems for our members, I wish you a holiday season filled with rest, clarity, and connection—and a new year grounded in presence, possibility, and shared futures. Meanwhile, I hope you also enjoy this video glimpse of sights and sounds from more of the natural wonders of our beautiful planet.
