At AAPOR’s 81st Conference, Arundati Dandapani, Founder and CEO of Generation1.ca, joined the 2026–27 Executive Council. Leveraging her previous committee experience, she aims to enhance AAPOR’s mission through high standards, collaboration, and public understanding of survey science, while promoting equity and inclusion within the field.
Generation1.ca hosted the event “Poly.technic Futures” at Humber Polytechnic, uniting students, educators, and industry leaders to discuss inclusive ecosystems for learner success. Key themes included skills development and community partnerships. Attendees enjoyed a Caribbean lunch, and CEO and Professor Arundati Dandapani won a raffle prize, adding to the vibrant experience.
In 2025, Generation1.ca CEO Arundati Dandapani launched AfroRise2050, a fellowship connecting African immigrants to their homelands and the world. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Generation1.ca unveils “Our Dreams for Africa” anthology, highlighting the challenges faced by immigrants of colour and promoting cultural exchange, knowledge and support within and across the African immigrant diaspora.
Generation1.ca has been invited to feature in the Love Local program at Billy Bishop Airport, from February 11–17. This recognition highlights the importance of immigrant communities in shaping Canada’s future. From February 25–27, global leaders in research will discuss maintaining data quality and accountability as AI evolves insight production. CEO Arundati Dandapani will lead a session and specifically present on synthetic data’s governance implications, emphasizing its impact on immigrant representation. The session aims to integrate multiple perspectives on ethical data practices amid AI advancements.
