There is something timeless about the energy of a cricket field — the strategy, the camaraderie, the collective thrill when the ball lifts into the sky with a thousand hopes behind it. A few weekends ago, I had the pleasure of being invited by the Market Research Society of India (MRSI) community for their friendly cricket tournament in Gurugram’s Cube Sports Centre of Excellence, a good reminder of how sport can unite industry professionals in ways that stretch beyond everyday routines. The cheers from the sidelines, good-natured rivalries, laughter, huddles and high-fives, gripping fours, sixers and wickets — all reflected what the data, analytics and insights industry thrive on: collaboration, resilience, and the joy of achieving something together. These are the very qualities that fuel impactful research, ethical data stewardship and strong partnerships across the industry. I was honoured to present awards post the matches I attended to winners but also standout players whose performance truly embodied the spirit of the game. They showcased focus, teamwork, and sporting excellence — proving once again that when passion meets purpose, you are in an enviable state of flow.
This gathering highlighted an essential truth: our work isn’t only about data, insights, or strategy. It’s about the people behind it — the relationships, lived experiences, and communities we build over time. Trust is the real competitive advantage, and events like these strengthen it. Here’s to more shared experiences that bring teams and practitioners closer — on the field, in the boardroom, and across every boundary we surpass and break.
