The Humber College International Graduate School’s Career Resources Fair presented a valuable opportunity for Generation1.ca among other job-resource and community development organizations, to engage with a vibrant cohort of Information Technology, Project Management, Business and Technology students. Close to a hundred students participated in this dynamic platform for networking and orientation before the Spring-Summer 2024 Semester started.
Generation1.ca Founder and CEO, Professor Arundati Dandapani remained a key participant and brought along two of her new coop RAP interns and former students to the fair – Flora (Fan) Jiang, Sandeep Singh, PhD, and Carla Barrantes, who will be fulfilling their graduation requirements through Generation1.ca co-ops with the RAP program. The Generation1.ca booth quickly became a hub of deep interaction, where students learned about Generation1.ca’s Fall 2024 Virtual Insights Career Fair and Case Competition happening on September 27. Our biannual career show is recognized as a cornerstone for graduates seeking to delve into both creative and practical aspects of their career pursuits and aspirations.
The students showed a keen interest in Generation1.ca, engaging in meaningful conversations with the Founder about the scope and benefits of the fall event and got excited for an exclusive Generation1.ca Networking Social that is happening on the International Graduate School campus on June 05, Wednesday, between 4 pm – 7 pm EST in collaboration with IC Hub, after Professor Arundati’s classes for the day, with a selection of her fall 2024 employers alongside refreshments and beverages, kicked off by a panel discussion. The goal of the networking social is to orient attendees on the structure of the fall career fair, the nature of the case competition, while sharing research and trends around skills, potential career pathways, co-ops, jobs and other research collaborations for a versatile workforce along with opportunities for graduates to mingle with employers in their networking booths in a physical space ahead of the virtual event.
Generation1.ca’s continued support of Humber’s IGS students and graduates at their job resources fair each year and beyond testifies to the power and effectiveness of bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice and is complementary to the college’s sponsorship of our career fairs and case competitions. The anticipation for Generation1.ca’s fall 2024 event proudly sponsored by Bank of Canada, Big Robin, ESOMAR, and returning and new employers is high and already promises to be a significant stepping stone for graduates ready for the workforce across various streams of business and data and insights innovation.
