Fall 2023 Virtual Insights Career Fair Morning Keynote Panel

Generation1.ca’s Virtual Insights Career Fair and Case Competition on September 29, Friday, will begin at 10 am EST with a morning keynote panel comprising illustrious guests across the span of talent leadership, public opinion research, data, marketing research and insights leadership, academia, finance, and government, led by founder Arundati Dandapani. This year’s theme is “Techfluence, Connection, Data Excellence: Insights from the Top,” indicating the vast opportunities to connect across technology, human resources / talent, and data ecosystems as we hear from today’s leaders at our signature virtual insights career fair and case competition.

Supported by academic partners, global associations, and a newly recruited team of fall 2023 interns from Humber College, Generation1.ca’s virtual fair will play host to over a dozen leading North American employers (logos at the end of the release) interested in hiring and networking with top talent. The event will also see the launch of Generation1.ca’s North American insights case competition as well as the Securian Canada sponsored Generation1.ca’s Best Newcomer Stories Contest led by Arundati Dandapani and her team of Generation1.ca interns Jasneet Kaur Chahal, Ishika Verma and Meera Patel.  Following the insights case competition, there will be 1-1 interviews with employers in their virtual booths, and the event will last until 5 pm EST.

Founder of Generation1.ca and Professor at Humber College, Arundati Dandapani, MLitt, CAIP, CIPP/C, will chair an esteemed morning panel on the evolution of skills and what it means for the success for today’s new and newcomer professionals as they look to join future cohorts of leaders, or more immediately, settle in a new country and continent and achieve financial stability, professional growth and lifelong learning and development opportunities and networks to thrive within.

Arundati Dandapani is the founder of Generation1.ca, a social enterprise media platform and community that places North America’s newcomers at the forefront of data and insights innovation globally. She is also a Professor of Data, Analytics and Insights at Humber College, the Vice Chair of the Program Advisory Board at Algonquin College’s Marketing Research and Analysis program and leads on the Certification Advisory Board of the IAPP, the world’s largest community and resource for information privacy professionals with extensive experience across private sector and non-profit leadership. She sits on the ad-hoc strategic planning committee of AAPOR and was also named by ESOMAR and Insight250 as one among the world’s top 75 data and insights legends at ESOMAR’s 2023 annual conference in Amsterdam, with her name raised in a star in ESOMAR’s Avenue of Excellence, the global industry’s equivalent of Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. She also serves as an Insight250 Judge and a Judge of the Canadian Marketing Association’s Annual Gala Awards, is an author of two published books, author and editor of several other publications, and has presented at, chaired or reviewed several presentations for AAPOR, WAPOR, ESOMAR, Market Research Institute International (MRII) and the University of Georgia (UGA) among other industry forums.

Sofia Theodorou is the newly appointed Chief Human Resources Officer at Securian Canada, a leading insurance provider of innovative, life-ready insurance solutions in Canada. Theodorou has more than 20 years of experience with large companies like PwC Canada, LoyaltyOne and Canadian Tire, transforming and leading high-performance teams. She has exceptional skills in HR strategy, talent management and culture building, and is now playing an important role in the execution of Securian Canada’s strategic plan.

Dr. Samir Abu Rumman, Founder and President of World of Opinions, and Visiting Research Scholar at Princeton University

Samir Abu-Rumman, PhD, is a visiting research scholar at Princeton University, USA, with extensive years of experience in research, education, and development in different countries. He is the supervisor of “World of Opinions” in Kuwait, Jordan, and the U.S., has led and supervised different regional and global research projects for organizations such as the World Values Survey and Arab Barometer for Princeton University. 

Hamza Bailla, Data Analyst, Service Canada

Hamza Bailla is a passionate data enthusiast with a strong interest in exploring the intersection of media, social sciences, and data. Throughout his journey from his hometown in Marrakech, Morocco to his current home in Ottawa, Canada, he has delved into various fields, ranging from healthcare to social sciences, where he has conducted both quantitative and qualitative research. His ultimate goal is to leverage the power of data to enhance analysis and improve decision-making. He remains committed to automation and analytics in his work.

Stella Igweamaka, MBA, CAIP, Senior Execution Consultant, Servus Credit Union

Originally from Nigeria, Stella is an award-winning market and consumer insights researcher with over 8 years of experience. Stella is passionate about using research to create meaningful impact and was recently featured in CBC News and Global TV Edmonton for her work with Black Canadian Women in Action (BCW) on Adultification Bias of Black Girls in Canada. Stella holds an MBA from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and currently works at Servus Credit Union as a Senior Execution Consultant.
