After an impressive performance throughout the competition, the team secured victory by breaking a tie with Lakeshore Galacticos, finishing ahead of strong competitors including 1624 Stars, Cosmic Halos, Nebula Navigators, and Cosmos Coders.
Their winning solution, Orbital Bridge, stood out for its innovation, creativity, and potential impact on the future of the space economy. Inspired by the vision of making access to space more affordable and scalable, Great Tech’s invention Orbital Bridge focused on enabling the efficient movement of materials and resources into orbit, helping pave the way for large-scale space infrastructure and sustainable growth beyond Earth. Team members each won cash prizes of $2000 and plenty of recognition opportunities and avenues to prestigious invitations to exclusive events, books and mentorship connections. The team were also offered the opportunity to present alongside Generation1.ca CEO and Founder Arundati Dandapani at the Annual Summer Humber Polytechnic Showcase.

Participating in the Generation1.ca spring 2026 Case Competition was genuinely an enriching experience for me. Winning was a proud moment, but what stands out most is everything I learned throughout the process. It pushed me to think critically, communicate clearly, and trust my ability to contribute meaningful ideas in a real problem‑solving environment.
Preparing for and presenting at the Humber Showcase as a winner added another layer to that growth. Working on solutions connected to polytechnic futures made me reflect on how education and innovation can evolve, and how students like me can play an active role in shaping that direction. Standing there and presenting my work to a wider audience gave me a sense of confidence I didn’t expect. It showed me that when I take on challenges that stretch my skills, I come out stronger and more self‑assured.
Overall, the experience reminded me that stepping into unfamiliar spaces is worth it. I discovered new strengths, built connections, and gained clarity about the kind of impact I want to make. It was more than a competition, it was a moment that helped me grow academically, professionally, and personally, and it continues to inspire me to seek opportunities that push me forward.

Orbital Bridge presented a strong, clear and compelling framing of the problem, particularly through its positioning as a “translation layer” connecting complex challenges with practical solutions. The team did an excellent job of first making the problem broadly relatable and then applying it effectively to the space sector. Judges particularly appreciated the fresh perspective, thoughtful framing and clarity of communication, which made the concept accessible and engaging.
The proposed solution demonstrated creativity, innovation and strong potential. To build on this strong foundation, the project would benefit from a fuller explanation of the methodology and research process, supported by relevant data and visualisations. This would provide additional evidence for the problem being addressed and further strengthen the case for the solution.

A Meaningful Experience: Winning the Generation1.ca Case Competition
Being recognized as a winner of the Generation1.ca Spring 2026 Case Competition was a very meaningful experience for me. It was exciting to see our team’s hard work come together and be recognized. Our project, Orbital Bridge, focused on an important problem: talented internationally trained professionals often have the right skills, but employers may have difficulty understanding their experience. We came up with a skills-first solution that helps connect people’s experience and skills with the right job opportunities. The competition taught me a lot about teamwork, problem-solving, and communicating ideas clearly. We had to understand a complex problem, discuss different ideas, and turn them into a solution that could realistically help both candidates and employers. Winning the competition and receiving the Generation1.ca scholarship made me feel proud of what our team achieved. More Than Just a Competition
Winning the Generation1.ca Case Competition was an experience I’ll remember for a long time. What made it special was not only the result, but everything we learned while getting there. Our team had to take a complex challenge and quickly figure out what the real problem was. Through many discussions and different ideas, we developed Orbital Bridge and built a solution around making skills and experience easier for employers to understand. One of my biggest takeaways was learning how important it is to listen to different perspectives. Everyone on the team brought something different, and combining those ideas helped us create a stronger final solution. Working with a deadline also pushed me to communicate better and make decisions with confidence. Being selected as a winner was a great confidence boost for me. The Generation1.ca scholarship made the achievement even more rewarding and motivated me to keep developing my skills.
