Cross-Diaspora Collaboration: Strengthening Immigrant Voices

Close on the heels of a successful Fuelling Immigrant Futures celebration, Generation1.ca CEO and Founder, Arundati Dandapani met with the leadership of Göçmen Kadınlar (GK) – Immigrant Women Abroad for Women Empowerment (IWAWE), Co-Founder and Director, Pinar Erdurmaz, to exchange ideas and strengthen ties between their immigrant diaspora communities. The discussion centred on shared missions of empowerment, inclusion, and professional advancement, with a particular focus on the experiences of Turkish immigrant women navigating new opportunities in North America and beyond. The Turkish diaspora in North America numbers close to half a million.

Both associations highlighted the importance of cross-diaspora collaboration in building resilient networks, advancing cultural fluency, and creating platforms for immigrant voices to thrive. This meeting marks the beginning of a deeper partnership aimed at amplifying the role of immigrant women in shaping equitable, innovative, and inclusive futures through Generation1.ca’s career fairs and case competitions, Global Industry Skills Study, upskilling resources, credentials, workshops and events, and other opportunities for resource sharing.
