On November 4, 2025, Generation1.ca hosts an event in Ottawa focusing on ethical AI and data quality in public sector research. Attendees will engage in talks, training, and networking to promote immigrant inclusion and effective policymaking. All participants receive a certificate for their contributions to ethical AI and public sector practices.
Professor Arundati Dandapani will present her research on critical thinking amid the rise of artificial general intelligence (AGI) at Humber Polytechnic’s FLAS Forward Symposium on August 27, 2025. The session emphasizes the importance of human skills, such as ethical reasoning and adaptability, in preparing for an AI-driven future.
In May 2025, I presented “No Newcomer Left Behind: Global AI Futures for a Melting Pot of Governance” at the IAPP’s Annual Canada Privacy Symposium, focusing on AI ethics and immigrant empowerment. Addressing this requires partnerships between AI developers, media outlets, and fact-checkers to ensure reliability and transparency. Collaborations can enhance output quality, mitigate misinformation, and foster trust in AI-generated content.
At Humber Polytechnic Institute’s #AI Institute for Public Safety in Education, we explored AI’s transformative potential in education and public safety. Through hands-on projects and in-depth discussions, we examined complex ethical issues and emphasized the essential role of human creativity and ethical considerations in technology, ensuring a balanced approach to innovation and education.
