Ahead of our CEO’s October fall public reading sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Writers’ Union of Canada (free to register for all), we were honoured to be invited to East Gwillimbury’s Newcomer Welcoming Week—an opportunity to inspire and engage with new arrivals in this vibrant town, consistently recognized for its ESG efforts and tailored initiatives to create more belonging for a town where the racialized population has grown by 300% between 2016 to 2021, currently constituting 30% of the town’s population.
CEO Arundati wrote Good Fortune five times in classical Chinese calligraphy, shared stories and opportunities, connected with fellow storytellers, balloon and face artists, and closed the day by joining an African drumming circle. The session also spotlighted Generation1.ca’s AfroRise Fellowship of Movers and Arrivers, drawing interest from community members. This was an excellent opportunity to promote the September 26th virtual career fair and case competition as well to newcomers.

We spend the next Sunday of 28th September, inspiring more attendees to join our Founder’s Fall 2025 reading of her works. Catch some video highlights from the Culture Crawl that brought together, artistes, authors, musicians at various stops on an itinerary.
