Generation1.ca member and Fall 2023 case competition winner has issued a bold and urgent call to the global Iranian diaspora: Do not sit quietly. Do not normalize this crisis. As Iran faces intensifying political oppression, censorship, and human rights abuses, Taheri—an advocate and voice of justice with deep roots in the homeland—reminds those living in freer societies that silence is complicity. Her letter urges diaspora members, particularly in Canada and elsewhere to write to their Members of Parliament (if you’re in Canada, this hyperlink will work) or political representatives, demanding meaningful diplomatic pressure and global accountability.
“We may have left Iran, but Iran has not left us,” she writes. “If you’re in a position to speak freely—do it. If you can demand action—demand it.”
Taheri’s message is not just about solidarity—it’s about leveraging privilege to protect the vulnerable. She asks Iranians abroad including those in Canada and North America to use their voices, networks, and platforms to amplify the truth and push governments to take a firm stance against state violence and repression.

This is more than a letter. It’s a moral blueprint for action. You may use this template below to frame your letter to political leaders in the Word Document you can download for use:
📢 Write. Share. Mobilize. Because history will remember who stood up—and who stayed silent.
